BAU, March 10: Floodwaters prompted a swift response from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) today, as 120 students and 14 teachers from SK Segong were safely evacuated amid persistent rains.

The evacuation followed continuous rain this morning, which triggered flash floods across many areas in Kuching. Rising waters along key roads caused traffic congestion, and water reportedly entered homes, particularly in low-lying neighbourhoods.

Bomba Bau received a call for assistance at 11am, and a team led by operation commander PBK II Peter Jindau arrived at the school by 11.25am.

The six-member team quickly transported the students and teachers to safe locations using boats.

After completing the operation, the team moved on to monitor other affected areas.
