13 technical papers to identify solutions for achieving full utility, telco coverage in Sarawak by 2030

KUCHING, March 22: The Sarawak Utility and Telecommunication Conference 2022 will feature 13 technical papers that will identify challenges, issues, and solutions to achieve full coverage of utility and telecommunication supply in Sarawak by 2030.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Utility and Communication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi, the conference will bring together several divisions within his ministry as well as relevant departments and agencies that provide utility services in Sarawak, including water and electricity supply, gas supply, and telecommunications.

“We discover that there are numerous challenges and issues that we face in providing water, electricity, gas, and telecommunications facilities throughout Sarawak.

“And it needs to be addressed with the cooperation of all parties involved, whether in our ministry at the Sarawak level, among the relevant departments and agencies,” he said on Monday at the Imperial Hotel during a press conference on the coming conference.

The conference, titled ‘Challenges and the Way Forward in Providing Utilities and Telecommunications in Sarawak by 2030,’ will feature 13 technical papers to be presented by the respective government agencies.

The two-day conference, which is being organised by the Sarawak Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications, will take place from March 31 to April 1, 2022, at UCSI Hotel in Kuching and will be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

In addition, 260 delegates will attend the inaugural Sarawak Utility and Telecommunication Conference 2022.

Among the agencies involved in the presentation were Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS), Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID), Public Works Department (JKR), and Land and Survey Department. — DayakDaily
