KUCHING, Nov 16: Thirteen cheques amounting to RM1.1 million were handed over to selected mission schools in the Kapit division during a ceremony held at the Sarawak Government Complex at Jalan Bletih, Kapit, today.

In a Facebook post, Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said this followed the presentation of cheques to mission schools officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who also oversees the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).

“This funding covers construction, repairs, and upgrading works to ensure more comfortable, safe, and conducive learning facilities for our children,” said Nanta, who is also the Works Minister.

Nanta also said that the allocation of more than RM90 million since 2021, specifically to support mission schools throughout Sarawak, demonstrates the State government’s commitment to strengthening educational institutions regardless of background or location.

“I hope that every allocation received is used wisely for the benefit of students, teachers, and the entire school community.

“Education is the foundation of our future, and we will continue to support efforts to enhance it,” he said.
