KUCHING, July 9: Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) will be paying the second Nett Proceed Payment (NPP) or dividend for 2020 to its project participants in mid-July.
With the first NPP payment cleared in early January, 2021, it said this coming second payment amounted to RM16.97 million and involved a total of 12,994 participants.
Thus, it advised participants who will be receiving this payment to check and ensure their bank account numbers are accurate, and the same as that registered so that payments are done correctly.
With this net profit or dividend payment, Salcra expressed hope that it could help ease the burden of its participants in facing the challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“On this occasion, the management would like to inform that the productivity performance of oil palm production is slightly affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the first six months of this year.
“Strict border control directives by the government have affected the recruitment of foreign labour required either for new recruitment or to replace expired workers,” it said in a statement today.
This, it added, has affected the production of the Fresh Fruit Bunches (BTS) in the farms as they are only functioning at 53 per cent workforce.
In order to reduce the labor gap, Salcra said it is now working on hiring local workers as harvesters and to fill other job vacancies in the farms, other than increasing the use of machinery or machines.
“This effort, to some extent, also helps to cover the income of local workers affected by this pandemic.
“Salcra has also appointed local contractors in the planning and implementing of several initiatives to increase the production of FFB,” it said while inviting more local employees and contractors to join. — DayakDaily
