KUCHING, June 16: Twelve students from nine schools throughout Sarawak scored excellent results, earning A+ in all subjects for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination 2021.
According to Sarawak Education Department director Datu Dr Azhar Ahmad, of the total, one student recorded 11A+, six have recorded 10A+ and five candidates have obtained 9A+ in all subjects.
They are Hong Yong Kai (11A+) and Ian Jong Kai Yi (10A+), both from SMK Green Road Kuching, Tan Chia Sin (10A+) from SMK Batu Lintang Kuching, Roy Makaay Anak Jeffrey (10A+) from SMK Matang Hilir, Chieng Chin Wei (10A+) from SMK Chung Hua Miri, David Ding Sing Yew (10A+) from SMK St Anthony Sarikei, Natalie Tiong Jia Tian (10A+) from SMK Tung Hua Sibu.
Among the 12 are Bong Bin Yong (9A+) from SMK Green Road Kuching, Aufa Abdul Hadi (9A+) and Muhammad Syafiq Abdul Rahman (9A+), both from Kolej Datu Patinggi Abang Haji Abdillah, Peter Mason Anak Davies (9A+) from SM Sains Kuching and Siti Nurfarahin Sarbini (9A+) from SMK Pujut.
“Overall, the achievements of Sarawak candidates in SPM 2021 showed very encouraging results and 596 candidates achieved at least A- in all subjects taken,” said Dr Azhar in a statement today.
He noted that a total of 29,166 candidates (88.29 per cent) have been eligible to receive certificates and a total of 17 schools have achieved 100 per cent Certificate Eligible Candidates in SPM 2021.
He said most of the schools in Sarawak can be summarised as being in the category of Excellent, Good and Satisfactory schools.
“A total of three schools (1.59 per cent) have achieved excellent results, 30 schools (15.87 per cent) achieved Good and 153 schools (80.95 per cent) achieved Satisfactory, while only 3 schools (1.59 per cent) obtained the Potential Achievement,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Azhar disclosed that a total of five Students with Special Educational Needs have also achieved excellent results.
He said they are Christabelle Lim Xin Rou from SMK St. Joseph Miri (8A+ dan 2A), Danny Yong Zhi Lik from SMK Chung Hua Sibu (5A+, 2A-, 1A-), Jovian Jeli Anak Duncan from SMK Methodist Sibu (1A+, 4A, 2A-, 1B+), Fairulnizam Abdul Rahman from SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman Kuching (6A, 2B+, 1C+), and Shallzuandy Abdul Wahab Abdullah from SMK Semop Daro (2A, 4A-, 1B+, 1D). — DayakDaily
