KUCHING, Aug 8: Twelve workers of a restaurant in Tatau tested positive for Covid-19, giving rise to a new Covid-19 cluster known as the Jalan Buan Cluster.
According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), a total of 21 people have taken swab tests whereby 12 tested positive for the coronavirus and the balance of nine individuals are awaiting lab test results.
The Jalan Buan Cluster is one of seven new clusters announced in Sarawak today.
The other new clusters comprise the Jalan Ding Lik Kwong Dua Cluster in Sibu, Kampung Pandan Cluster in Lundu, Lorong Merbau Cluster (Kuching), Kampung Pulo Ulu (Kuching), Taman Malihah Cluster (Kuching) and Jalan Stutong Baru Cluster (Kuching).
The Jalan Ding Lik Kwong Dua Cluster in Sibu is a workplace cluster involving a residence used by a wiring company at Jalan Ding Lik Kwong.
A total of 30 people have been swabbed for Covid-19 with 15 people testing positive, 13 testing negative and two individuals are awaiting lab test results.
As for the Kampung Pandan Cluster in Lundu, nine people have tested positive for Covid-19 from 29 people who have been swabbed so far. It centres on family members in a village located at Jalan Belungei, Pandan, Lundu.
SDMC said all Covid-19 patients identified have been admitted to health facilities for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Kilometer 23 Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster in Kuching was declared ended after zero cases were reported in the past 28 days.
There are still 89 active clusters in Sarawak as of today, out of which 13 clusters reported 110 new cases today. — DayakDaily
