MIRI, June 21: Three siblings and a married couple were among 12 individuals detained during an operation mounted by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Miri branch last night and ended in the wee hours today.
AADK Miri chief Mazlan Jikran, when contacted, said those rounded up were aged between 19 and 50, and four of them were females.
The 8pm-4am operation focused on Kampung Tudan, Permyjaya and Kampung Lereng Bukit.
“All 12 individuals were tested positive for syabu (methamphetamine),” said Mazlan.
On the married couple, he related that they were detained at a house in Permyjaya. They were doing drugs while their children, aged four and one, watched.
On the three siblings, aged between 21 and 29, Mazlan said their parents were very frustrated that their three sons were doing drugs.
Citing their parents, he said these three siblings frequently behaved aggressively when they were high on illegal substances.
“They even threatened to torch the house if their demand for cash was rejected by their parents,” said Mazlan.
The offence is framed under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addict (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983. — DayakDaily
