119 of 137 compounds issued for flouting physical distancing order

KUCHING, Sept 30: A total of 119 out of 137 compounds issued by the police in the past 24 hours were for flouting physical distancing orders.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, reported that of the 137 compound fines, 79 were issued in Kuching, 57 in Bintulu and one in Sibu.

Apart from failure to practise physical distancing, 14 compounds were issued for failure to check-in with MySejahtera or record contact details manually before entering premises.


Other offences including being out in public places beyond permitted time (3) and premises owner failing to implement physical distancing measures at the said premises (1).

As of today, a total of 11,412 compounds have been issued throughout Sarawak.

The local authorities had also issued five compounds in the past 24 hours with four under Marudi District Council and one under Bintulu Development Authority.

The compounds were issued for violating the physical distancing order, not wearing face masks properly, failure to check-in with MySejahtera, failure to update registration book and faulty body temperature scanner. — DayakDaily
