11 escape fire at tahfiz school in Kg Nangka

Firefighters dousing flames at Sekolah Tahfiz Darul Uloom Islamiyyah in Kampung Nangka, Jalan Taka.

SIBU, Aug 1: Eleven people including four male students at Sekolah Tahfiz Darul Uloom Islamiyyah in Kampung Nangka escaped fiery death after they managed to escape a fire at the premises.

The premises was partially destroyed in a fire earlier this evening.

However, one of the ustazā€™s (religious teacher) wife was reported to have sprained a leg during the incident.


Sarawak Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) operations centre said it received the emergency call at 4.38pm.

A team of eight firefighters led by PBK II Norman Matu was despatched to the scene at Jalan Taka.

When they arrived at the scene, the fire had already gutted some 20 per cent of two bedrooms in the double-story house.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Apart from the four students, the other occupants were two ustaz in their twenties, their spouses and three children. ā€” DayakDaily
