KUCHING, Oct 12: A total of 1,046 recipients were conferred with Sarawak awards in conjunction with the 78th birthday celebration of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
The investiture ceremony, which was streamed live via the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) Facebook page today, was held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex in Petra Jaya.
It was attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, together with deputy premiers, Cabinet ministers, and distinguished dignitaries.
Leading the list of recipients were the wife of the Head of the State, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, and the father of Work Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leonard Linggi Jugah.
Both were conferred Datuk Bintang Kenyalang (D.P), which carries the title of ‘Datuk Patinggi’.
At the ceremony, the Catholic Archbishop of Kuching Archdiocese, Dr Simon Poh Hoon Seng, was also conferred the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) award, which carries the title ‘Dato’.
Among others who received the award are Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian’s wife, Enn Ong Siok Ean; Tupong assemblyman and chief political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman; press secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Ambrose Cheng Loi Hee; prominent lawyer, Shankar Ram Asnani; Betong MP, Dr Richard Rapu; Kabong assemblyman, Mohd Chee Kadir, and DBKU Mayor, Hilmy Othman.
