KUCHING, March 5: Physical classes for 1,045 government and government-aided primary schools across Sarawak, except in high-risk Covid-19 areas, are allowed to resume next Monday of March 8.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, announced this decision following meetings with State Education Department Sarawak.
The decision to allow primary schools to resume physical classes was achieved after carrying out risks assessment as well as compliance with the Guidelines for School Management and Operation in New Normal 2.0 issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE).
“This will involve an addition of 231 primary schools in Sarawak which will be allowed to conduct physical classes as compared to 814 schools on March 1,” the statement explained.
SDMC has previously announced that schools in Sarawak’s Covid-19 red zones would remain closed until March 14 despite a directive from the MOE that preschools, as well as Primary One and Two, can be returned to school on March 1 while Primary Three to Six on March 8.
Secondary schools in Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah will reopen on April 4 and the remaining states on April 5. – DayakDaily
