KUCHING, August 29: A one-day workshop called ‘Randau Digital Sarawak’ will be held in Limbang to familiarise and educate grassroots leaders on the benefits and development strategies of the state’s digital economy agenda.
Themed ‘Ke Arah Masyarakat Digital’, it is put together by Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak for about 100 members of Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) in Limbang Division on Sept 5.
The various sessions will be conducted by personnel from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak (MTACYS), Department of Agriculture Sarawak (DOA), Kuching District Office, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and local industry players.
Among the key areas to be discussed are capacity-building on digital economy, e-tourism, technopreneurship and digital agriculture. There would also be a ‘randau’ (dialogue) session with local elected people’s representatives to provide an opportunity for the participants to voice out their concerns about the digital economy.
By the end of the workshop, the organisers hope the participants would have the necessary knowledge and networking know-how to enable them to help mobilise their respective communities to dabble in digital economy-related activities.
The programme is the first in a series of workshops for JKKKs to promote digital inclusivity. The next workshop is scheduled to be held this November for Miri Division.
Advancements in digital and communication technologies are fast-transforming the global economic landscape, and as such, Sarawak does not want to be left out in this digital revolution. To ensure that Sarawakians are well-equipped to participate in this new economy, the state government has carried out various initiatives to ensure digital inclusivity. — DayakDaily
