“In the green zone and the yellow zone, each household will receive four pieces of face masks.

“This is part of Sarawakku Sayang Assistance Package One that Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg announced,” he told reporters after witnessing a handing over ceremony of one box of face mask to Kuching Resident Officer at Majma Mall here today.

He explained that the face masks will be distributed by the resident office of each division as well as by the non-governmental organisations to the households in various divisions.

Dr Sim noted the free face masks initiative for the public was sponsored by the state government under the Sarawakku Sayang Aid Package.

He advised the public to use it properly and reminded them not to waste it unnecessarily.

This is because Dr Sim noted that face masks were a scarce commodity nowadays which is facing a shortage of supply globally.

Dr Sim added that the face masks will also be delivered to other divisions progressively in the next few days.

Besides, he explained that the face mask will be distributed to the households in Kuching and Samarahan divisions first because it is required by those staying there as those two locations are classified as the red zone of novel coronavirus (Covid-19). —DayakDaily
