KUCHING: Betong MP Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah will not defend his seat for the coming Parliamentary Elections.
The Borneo Post reports, Uggah said he will not be defending his seat because he wants to focus on his responsibilities as the Deputy Chief Minister.
“No one should hold both parliament and state seats,” said Uggah.
Uggah who is also the Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister said the decision will also pave way for him to focus on modernising Sarawak’s agriculture sector as well as developing rural areas.
In the 2016 state elections, Uggah contested as PBB candidate for Bukit Saban and won with a 4,599 majority against PKR candidate Noel Changgai Bucking. – dayakdaily.com
