KUCHING: A government should not calculate the economic return for it or from it said Parti Bansa Dayak Baru President Cobbold John.
Cobbold said people in Baram are like any in Malaysia, who are entitled to basic necessities including infrastructure development in their area.
“If every rural development has to incorporate a so called mega project as the main criteria for basic necessities of infrastructure to its people. Then, why are there other rural areas which does not even require a mega project, still gets the benefits of the basic infrastructure?,” said Cobbold in a statement.
Yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Dr. James Jemut Masing said it is unlikely that the government will build the Long Lama-Ulu Baram road unless there are some major projects in the Baram interior. Adding that it is very expensive to build the road to cater just for a few longhouses. – dayakdaily.com
