KUCHING : A total of 1.9 million acres of Native Customary Rights Land in the state successfully canvassed over the past six years said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan.
Awang Tengah who is also the Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources said the effort is carried out using a new initiative involving 480 areas between Octorber 2010 till April 30 this year.
“We could do that much prior to the introduction of this new initiative. Back in the 60’s only 642473.992 were canvassed because of limited technology back then. The situation is different these days,” Awang Tengah said at his winding up speech at the State Legislative Assembly here.
Out of the 480 areas, 402 areas covering 1.53 million acres of land gazetted at Bumiputera Communal Reserve (Agriculture) and the NCR perimeter survey new initiative is carried out in two stages.
In the primary stage, the perimeter survey is to isolate genuine NCR land from state land, where these land will be gazetted as Bumiputera Communal Reserve (Agriculture) under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code.
At the second stage, the gazetted areas will be surveyed as individual lots where land titles is issued under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code.
As of now, a total of 8,749 individual lots involving 22387.5 acres are successfully canvassed involving 22387.5 in the past five years.
From that figure, out of 3,989 lots are issued with land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code covering 9602.5 acres. – dayakdaily.com
