SRI AMAN, Oct 22: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing says he will fight tooth and nail against members who try to break up the party.

He said as he would always stand by all the leaders and would expect them not to sabotage the party.

“Because I have always put my front foot down in defense of Party Rakyat Sarawak, therefore, I do not have much patience for those who try to sabotage this party.

“I will fight tooth and nail against members of the opposition who try to bring us down, and I will apply the same rules against party members who try to break up this party.

“I am doing this not to keep my position as the President of PRS. I am doing it so that a Dayak-based party is no longer described by others as a ‘one party president’.”

Dayak leaders put on their full traditional costumes in celebration of PRS 13th Anniversary.

He explained that the term meant once the president retires, so too the party, which in Iban is, “President badu, party mati”.

“The history of Dayak-based parties has not been kind to us, and our leaders in Dayak-based parties did very little to prove our critics wrong.”

“With PRS I want to prove those critics wrong. The Dayak-based party of today lasts longer than one President. To make it possible, I need your help and assistance,” said Masing during the party’s 13th Anniversary Dinner at a hotel here tonight.

He called on party members to trust him and his decisions as “none of those decisions were carried out for my benefit or for the benefit of the few”. — DayakDaily
