Kuching Teochew Association grateful for Unifor’s RM100 mln allocation for 2023

KUCHING, Dec 2: The Kuching Teochew Association is grateful to the Sarawak government for allocating RM100 million to non-Muslim religious bodies for 2023 through the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).

The association noted the Sarawak government puts great emphasis on non-Muslim religions and beliefs by continuously supporting the various religious units and organisations through the disbursement of funds.

“Therefore, we are grateful and shall make good use of this unique enlightened policy in Sarawak to actively promote the unity and harmony among various religions and beliefs.

“The association would also like to thank the Guest-of-Honour and Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, represented by political secretary to Sarawak Premier Tan Kai, who served as the ‘chief protector’ of the ceremonial worship,” said the association in a statement today.

Earlier today, the association organised its first Yue Hai Ting cemetery winter memorial ceremonial worship to commemorate its 160-year long history and to pay homage to the their ancestors.

Also present were Kuching Teochew Association president Chiew Boon Seng, organising chairman Sim Hang Tong, and Persatuan Seu Teck Sean Temple chairman Koh You Kiang. — DayakDaily
