KUCHING, Dec 5: SK Ulu Bawan of Kanowit is inundated under three-feet high floodwaters.
As now is school holiday time, the school, though affected by flood, is still operating as normal.
According to the state Education Department, presently there are four non-teaching staff, two teachers as well as security personnel and cleaners who are still on duty in the affected school.
The school has a total of 140 students, 15 school teachers and five non-teaching staff.
The state Education Department made the announcement through a press release issued by the State Disaster Management Committee.
According to the same press statement, the Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) had reported that all telemetry stations in Sarawak showed normal water level readings except for Sungai Bawan in Mukah.
Although the water level of Sungai Bawan has reached “on alert” level, according to DID, it is receding. — DayakDaily
