MARUDI: Sarawak Energy technical team had to trek four days and wadding flood waters in the jungle in order to restore power for 60 rural households in Long Lama.
Sarawak Energy Northern Region Regional Manager Tan Joo Kok in a statement said floodwaters and heavy rain delayed their restoration works.
“It was a challenging situation for the team as they need to clear the lines from fallen branches and overgrowth. It took sometime for them to locate the fault and safely restoring the power supply,” said Tan.
Power supply to communities in Long Laput, Long Sg Dua and Sri Kanawat areas was fully restored on Wednesday, after the tripping on the Sg Kejin Line caused by fallen tree branches on May 20.
“Safety of our team is also a priority and we need to ensure that the condition on site permitted work to proceed. Fortunately we managed to clear the lines and supply was safely restored. We thank the people in the areas for their kind understanding,” he added. – dayakdaily.com
