KUCHING: The much anticipated press conference by UNMO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak turned out to be an anticlimax, as he announced the return of Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib to UMNO’s fold.

The ex-Selangor mentri besar and former vice-president of UMNO who is better known as Mat Taib, has applied to rejoin Umno.

Mat Taib quit UMNO in 2013 to join PAS. He later left PAS to join PKR in 2015.

The announcement was made by Najib at the press conference held at UMNO headquarters this afternoon to which all UMNO top leaders received invitations last night to attend.

The manner in which the press conference was called had led the media to believe that a highly important matter such as the dissolution of parliament would be announced.

To UMNO, the announcement of the return of Mat Taib may be a boost for the party and newsworthy enough of calling a press conference attended by its big shots.

The news perhaps may have a big impact on the politics of the PKR-held state of Selangor.

To us, the people of Sarawak however, the press conference is just an anticlimax.
