MIRI, Jan 19: Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting today clarified that hair and beauty salons can still operate under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Miri.
He pointed out that no ban has been imposed on these premises as long as they followed the standard operating procedures (SOP) throughout the CMCO period until Jan 31 whereby further instructions will be issued.
Ting made this clarification following complaints made by owners of hair and beauty salons on summonses they received from the local authority for operating during CMCO.
“I’ve contacted the Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (MDMC) regarding the issues, and they had confirmed that there are no ban for these premises or outlets to operate during CMCO,” Ting stressed.
He advised premises owners who received summonses to immediately WhatApps him or contact Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUP) Service Centre Piasau branch.
Meanwhile, under the latest CMCO SOP guidelines, all sector of economies and activities allowed can only operate from 6am to 10pm.
The economic activities allowed include food and beverage outlets, food trucks, road side stalls, hawker centres, grocery stores, convenient stores, pharmacies, shopping malls, supermarkets, fresh markets, night markets, downtown and uptown markets, petrol stations, vet clinics, pet stores and launderettes with strict adherence to SOP of respective sectors.
However, any form of entertainment and social activities in night clubs or pubs, theme parks, karaoke including family karaoke, indoor playground, cinemas, massage centres as well as spas and reflexologies are prohibited.
Any activities that will involve mass gathering of people at a place in which physical distancing and other health and safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) cannot be observed are prohibited. — DayakDaily
