MUKAH, Oct 23: A form one student is killed while his pillion rider of the same age is seriously injured when the motorcycle they are riding collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle from the opposite direction at Jalan Dijih, Selangau at 9am today.
The victim, Fernandez Chendan Johnny from Rumah Ungai, KM8, Jalan Dijih, died at the scene while his seriously injured pillion rider was taken to Sibu Hospital for treatment.
Mukah district police chief, deputy superintendent Muhamad Rizal Alias said the accident happened when the vehicle was moving straight from the Dijih junction towards Sebakong.
“The motorcycle was ridden by a 13 -year -old teenager. As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Selangau health clinic while the other 13 -year -old boy was rushed to Sibu Hospital for treatment for serious injuries, ” he said.
The 23-year old female driver of the four-wheel drive and her 48-year old male passenger did not suffer any injuries.
DSP Muhammad urged public members who might have witnessed the incident to come to Mukah district police station or the nearby police stations to provide information to help the police to investigate the accident.
The case is being investigated under section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily.
