DAP Chong’s special assistant Abdul Aziz released on police bail

KUCHING: State Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen’s special assistant Abdul Aziz Isa has been released on police bail.

In a statement sent via whatsapp, Sarawak Commissioner of Police Dato Amer Awal said a 28-year-old man identified as the owner of the Facebook account was released on police bail after his statement was taken by the police.

A police report was lodged at the Sekama Police Station, on a status uploaded by a Facebook account owner.

The status is said to have humiliated a leader in Malaysia.

Upon reviewing this status, police decided to investigate under section 504 of the Penal Code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.


The police statement did not mention Abdul Aziz’s name.

He was arrested at 4.15pm in IPD Kuching after he was called by the police to have his statement taken. His mobile phone was also confiscated by the police for further investigation.
