KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg today named 62 year-old Sim Kheng Boon, a Sarawak-born banker with over 30 years of banking and financial experience as the chief executive officer of the newly-formed Sarawak Development Bank Bhd ( DBOS).
The appointment is effective Aug 1.
The chief minister also announced State Secretary Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani as charman of the board with Sharkawi Alis, Christopher Adrian and Datuk Laura Lee Ngien Hionas members.
The bank is expected to commence operation on Jan 1.
Sim, who graduated with an honours degree of commerce from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada, spent the bulk of his banking career with AmBank AmInvestment Bank where his last position was as the Sarawak region director.
He joined the bank in 1983 in line functions and in his 30 years there, got promoted to key managerial positions with significant leadership roles.
During his time with the bank, he reportedly was instrumental in advising Sarawak companies public listing procedures and requirements besides providing corporate advisory services in fund raising via capital markets, corporate structuring as well as financial advisory on merges of acquisitions.
An associate member of Asian Institute of Chartered Banker, Sim from 2012 to 2015 was the executive director of Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd in East Malaysia.
In addition, Sim served as an independent director of Zecon Bhd and retired just recently.-dayakdaily.com
