KUCHING, Nov 9: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Children Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the government through National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) will set up seven new Care and Cure Service Centres (CCSCs) in Sarawak.
These seven CCSCs will be set up in Lawas, Samarahan, Betong, Serian, Mukah, Bintulu and Sarikei.
She said as of April 2017, 62 drug addicts are undergoing voluntary rehabilitation at CCSC Kuching.
As for the Sarawak Narcotic Addiction Rehabilitation Centre, she said there are presently 190 drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation there while 1,177 of them are under the observation of AADK.
Meanwhile, as of September 2017, as many as six major drug syndicates in Sarawak have been taken to task.
She said according to Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department report, there were 401 arrests involving the supply of drugs while there were 1,352 drug possession cases.
The Dalat assembly woman said this at the State Legislative Assembly sitting today when answering a question from Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam.
She said as of the same period, property confiscated from drug distributors by the department under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988 was RM4,937,041. — DayakDaily
