64 receive RM1.1 million in MRP funds

KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing disbursed RM1.1 million in minor rural project (MRP) funds to 64 recipients this week.

From this number, 28 MRP fund recipients received a total of RM467,000 from him at his office at Bangunan Baitul Makmur today.

The remaining 36 recipients had on Sept 24, were given the MRP funds in Kapit.

Among today’s recipients was Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala.

Gerawat who is also Deputy State Assembly Speaker had received the MRP fund as the chairman of the Working Committee for the State Level Gawai Dayak 2017 Dinner.

Lubok Antu assemblyman Datuk William Nyalau Badak was also present at the function to give support to Lubok Antu community leaders whose longhouses had been allocated MRP funds.

Masing who is also Infrastructure Development and Transportation Minister said the RM1.1 million was the total sum for the second phase of MRP distribution.
