KUCHING: Being a village far and isolated from the city is not an excuse for them to leave their homes unkept.
And residents of Rh Benggau from Sungai Sut, Baleh proved that it can be done when they emerged champions among all the longhouses community in Sarawak, where some are located nearer to the cities.
RH Benggau community was awarded the best longhouse in the country at the Desa Perdana Awards and walked away with RM150,000 cash prize.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak presented the prize to the recipients in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 22.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing said the success of Rh Benggau is a good example of good leadership and management of the longhouse community.
“Humility and willingness to learn is not limited by distance and accessibility. The champions among all the longhouses in Sarawak is a prime example where good leadership is critical to good management,” said Masing. – dayakdaily.com
