150 grassroots leaders, BN supporters travel via military aircraft to Kuala Lumpur

150 community leaders and BN supporters about to board a military aircraft to fly from Sibu to Kuala Lumpur to meet with the prime minister and deputy prime minister tomorrow.

KUCHING: As many as 150 community leaders, longhouse chiefs and Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters have been ferried in a military aircraft from Sibu to Kuala Lumpur.

The purpose of their trip is to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tomorrow.

These 150 community leaders and longhouse chiefs are from the three parliamentary constituencies of Kanowit, Kapit and Hulu Rajang.

Some 150 community leaders, longhouse chiefs and BN supporters seated on a military aircraft scheduled to fly from Sibu to Kuala Lumpur bringing them to meet the prime minister and deputy prime minister.

These three rural constituencies are known for their huge area size where their surface areas make up one-third of the total size of Sarawak.

Politically, the Kanowit and Hulu Rajang parliamentary seats are held by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang and Datuk Wilson Ugak respectively while the Kapit seat is held by Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

The eight state assembly seats under the three parliamentary areas are Ngemah, Machan, Katibas, Pelagus, Bukit Goram, Baleh, Belaga and Murum where all the seats are under PRS except for Bukit Goram and Katibas which are under Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said he has been asked to lead this very special delegation.

Community leaders from Murum are part of the 150-member delegation meeting with the prime minister and deputy prime minister tomorrow.

“We will brief the prime minister and the deputy prime minister on issues of importance to the (people of the) Rajang River basin especially the Upper Rajang Development Authority area.”

“We are happy that the two top leaders of our countries are giving us their time to meet up,” Masing who is also Deputy Chief Minister told DayakDaily.
